Parent Parking

On Thursday 11th February at home time, a parent with epilepsy suffered a fit in her car. She and her carer were trapped in the upper car park because parents had parked their cars in the central space, completely blocking the entrance and exit. This situation is totally unacceptable and cannot be allowed to continue. It is essential under Health and Safety legislation that emergency vehicles have access into and out of the school site at all times.

Parking in the upper car park is reserved exclusively for staff vehicles and for parents, carers and children with disabilities and all cars must be parked in the designated parking bays.

There have been other incidents reported recently involving parents attempting to leave the lower car park via the entry point where other cars are coming in from the main road. I am also aware that many parents park next to the grass verge in the lower car park which impedes access and makes reversing out of the parking bays both difficult and dangerous. I am truly shocked that it is necessary for me to issue a warning to parents about the need to obey parking regulations on a school site.

If all available parking spaces are full, please be considerate and park safely elsewhere in the village.

Thank you for your co-operation.
