Vacancy for an:
Parent Support Adviser
29.6 hours per week (0.8fte) Fixed term contract until March 2011
Parent Support Advisers are a new role in Hampshire schools. These are school based posts working directly with parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for children by providing access to information and support for families.
The Parent Support Adviser (PSA) will work with all the schools in the Bohunt cluster. This is a varied role which will involve working with parents in their homes, supporting parents through groups in the community, supporting families where the children or young people are struggling to make best use of their educational opportunities through poor attendance and challenging behaviour. The PSA will provide an easy to access contact point for parents and promote parental involvement in school based activities.
To fulfil this important role you will need to have successful and proven experience of working with parents and families who may be experiencing stress and of working with schools and other agencies that support schools. Experience of running groups with parents would be an advantage. There is an expectation that some of the work will be done outside the normal school day and the posts are not subject to term-time only contracts. The successful candidate will need to be a car owner with access to their own transport.
